French Essence - Vicki Archer

Vicki Archer is an Australian writer who lives between London and Saint Rémy de Provence in southern France.  Born and raised in Australia, her first overseas trip to Paris at the age of ten sparked a passion for travel and adventure that has never ceased. In the last twenty years she has traveled extensively throughout France and become enamored with the French way of life. Her first book, MY FRENCH LIFE, was published in 2006 and FRENCH ESSENCE, the second, in 2009. This link will take you to her blog which is for those of us, who like Vicki, who are mad for fashion, interiors and all things French.

Public Pool Information

The piscine municipale indoor pool is open all year round (but not all day every day) then in the holiday time (sometime in June to end of August) the outdoor pool is open, all day.

Provence produces lovely rosé wine and a crisp, cool glass of pink wine at lunch is our habit. It is a style that we really can't get in Australia so we make the most of the opportunity while in Provence. In the supermarket, you only need to pay €7 to €10 to get a good example.

There is a winery called La Canorgue just out of Bonnieux that is used as a set in A Good Year but even if you haven't seen the flick, it is a lovely setting and they make quality organic wines. We really like the rosé in the blue bottle and the Coin Perdu red. Keen wine buffs will be off to the Châteauneuf du Pape and other Rhône vineyards to the north and northwest of the Isle.
