Simon and I have finally completed the purchase of our latest property on L'Isle sur la Sorgue - Le Vieux Platane (The Old Plane Tree). This charming three bed property is located on a square on the Isle. Elayne our property manager is directing the activities locally with frequent email inputs from Perth. (Thanks goodness for Elayne).
The house has great bones but is tired and in need of new furniture and curtains - basically it just needs some love and attention (and Euros......lots of Euros!).
The plan for the next couple of weeks is to:
1. Sell/donate of all the furniture which is not to our taste or that we don't need. For example the buffet (pictured) is a big piece visually and we would prefer a baker's stand.
2. Throw out accumulated bits and pieces that just do not need to be there.
3. Paint the interior.
4. Purchase new furniture and fixtures
Raymond the painter has started today. Elayne is working hard on getting rid of the furniture. But I have the best job - shopping online for the new stuff. The orders will go in this WE to Maison du Monde (French Ikea) and Ikea (Ikea) for lots of lovely new things.
Simon and I have a philosophy about holiday home furnishings. They should be fit for purpose and aesthetically pleasing. Sofas should be comfortable, knives sharp, frypans should still have their Teflon coating and curtains and pictures beautiful.
