Grey and Yellow
The floor in the living dining area of Le Vieux Platane is a mix of original tiles - some grey and yellow and the reminder are the old yellow and white terrazzo. Not the worst tiles I have ever seen but not something I would ever have chosen. Given that we don't want to spend the money retiling in the near future it was something we would have to work with. What to do?
It was funny how suddenly I started to notice grey and yellow being used together everywhere I looked. I saw gorgeous throws at Laura Ashley, stunning grey and yellow rooms on Houzz and every decorator magazine I opened had an advertisement for a room that was grey and yellow. The way the majority people had used them was to have most things grey and white and then use the yellow in pops of colour - a vibrant yellow painting, mustard cushions, or a yellow patterned curtain. Simon took particular note. Likely because I showed him at every available opportunity! We are converts and will embrace what we cannot change. Gris and jaune here we come!
Our living room will have a grey sofa like this one:
And this rug:
And for the pop of colour, this chair:
All from Ikea. We will pick up some great grey and white toile cushions and something textured and grey and something with a little yellow too from the markets.
